And as far as the Motorola Q goes, everything I’ve seen to date seems to speculate a 4Q release of the AKU2 Update.

Windows Mobile Emulator!

Here are the links to download the PocketPC and SmartPhone Emulators (Which are AKU2/MSFP). Very useful for testing connectivity of your ActiveSync Exchange as well as testing third party apps.
Standalone Device Emulator 1.0 with Windows Mobile OS Images
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=C62D54A5-183A-4A1E-A7E2-CC500ED1F19A&displaylang=en

You’ll need to download and install both of these applications – And to get it to function, you’ll need to install the application listed below first.
Virtual Machine Network Driver for Microsoft Device Emulator

Once it is up, all you need to do is click “Notification” and “Connect” and it will use your existing network connection and allow you to perform functionality as though you were on your mobile device!

Treo Update from Verizon is released again!

Well, in a previous update I gave you a workaround to get the update Verizon Palm/Treo release the Treo 700W Updater 1.10 however they’ve finally re-released it again.

The difference between the version they released before and this one is minor at best. The ROM which gets applied is the same rom (Compared by the filesize and MD5 hash) So if you applied the prior update, you should be fine now and if not, you can go download the update fresh and get it down again and install it.

“Failed to read the allow and block list data” in Live Communication Server

When you experience this error message while trying to “Edit allow and block list” of a user, the solution is in the DNS.

To correct this issue, simply create an ‘A’ record for the LCSPool to have an IP Matching the LCS Server’s IP Address.

Flush the cache, and then you should be able to edit the block list data, and the clients should then be able to communicate properly.

Enabling DirectPush, GAL Lookup, Remote Wipe, and other MSFP Functionality in Exchange 2003 SP2

So you’ve gone through all the effort to get yourself a mobile device, you’ve updated it to the MSFP version from the vendor and now you want to actually USE that functionality!

If you are using Exchange with no FrontEnd and the FE has SP2 on it. – You’re set!
If you are Front-Ended with ISA then the following article can help you configure the DirectPush technology.

Enterprise firewall configuration for Exchange ActiveSync Direct Push Technology
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905013

Then simply change the timeout from 120 to 1800 and DirectPush should begin working.

DirectPush
DirectPush will be working the instant you setup a mobile device with MSFP loaded on it, so your devices can now sync without requiring an SMS message to be send from the server.

GAL Lookup
GAL Lookup will be available after you update your device with the MSFP.

It can be used by doing the following:
When you go to send a new message or reply to a message
Click Menu – Add Recipient
Click Menu – Find Online
Then type in the name and it will search the GAL for the user.

Remote Wipe
Remote wipe requires the download and installation of the MobileAdmin onto your Exchange server.

You can download it here, and it provides useful documentation to use it.
